My name is Simon Shard and I run a well equipped joinery workshop in Crewkerne. I spent fifteen years as an aircraft technichian in the Royal Navy before retraining as a boat builder at the Lyme Regis boat building academy. After completing the course with distinction, I now use these specialised skills in all areas of woodworking / joinery.
I am a sole trader / joiner and so offer an individual, prompt and reliable service. My aim is to provide traditional craftsmanship at realistic prices.
All of my work is bespoke and I can produce free standing furniture, kitchens, reproduction work, mouldings, panelling, doors or indeed anything in any wood. I also make painted pieces as can be seen in my gallery and use the best primers and Farrow and Ball paints. I meticulously brush paint for a traditional look rather than spray as in lesser quality mass produced work.
From timber selection to final finish, I work to a very high standard.
My work has been shown locally in both the 303 gallery, Martock and Dansel gallery, Abbotsbury. I have exhibited at Yandles and the European woodworking show.
If you have any joinery project in mind, however unusual in concept or size be it contemporary or period, then please contact me. I can help with design and advise on other considerations.
I have completed work locally in Somerset and Dorset and would consider projects further afield.
